WordCamp Europe 2025 was an important milestone for me. This year, I was on stage myself with my talk “The Future of WordPress: Your Role in the Evolution.” I spoke about the direction WordPress is heading and the role we, as developers and contributors, will play in the coming years.
Reuniting with the Core Team
I was especially happy to meet many familiar faces from the Core Team again. We had in-depth conversations about the new features coming to the Gutenberg editor and the topics that will shape the next releases.
Contributor Day
On Thursday, I represented the Core Team during Contributor Day and led a motivated group of contributors. Together, we helped many new developers get started with the project and made their first steps into contributing easier. It felt great to see how much interest there is in being actively involved in WordPress Core.
A short exchange
After my talk, I also had the chance to briefly speak with Matt Mullenweg and Mary Hubbard. We took a photo together — a wonderful moment that rounded off the day perfectly.
WordCamp Europe 2025 was one of the best-organized WordCamps I’ve ever attended. My talk, the work within Core, Contributor Day, and the conversations with Matt and Mary reminded me of how strong this community truly is. For me, it was one of my best WordCamp experiences so far.
Conclusion
WCEU 2025 was a day filled with valuable conversations and fresh energy for everything that comes next. Days like this remind me why I’ve been supporting WordPress with full conviction for so many years.
